This work envisions the surface being peeled back to expose the tender, vulnerable core of our being. It captures involuntary physical responses—like blushing or hair standing up—where the body betrays our inner state by sharing information with outside beings without permission.

At the piece's peak, a small form in a state of unrest is cradled, sending shock waves through the structure that eventually fade into calm. This visual narrative is rendered through a gradient from hot reds to cool pinks, featuring bug-like lumps undulating beneath the surface. The work investigates the translation of emotions between bodies, specifically the maternal act of self-regulation to soothe a child. Ultimately, it considers the intermeshing of microbiomes between loved ones, where shared proximity strengthens immune systems.
